Michael Carp is a musician who enjoys performing the nuanced and thoughtful music of the 20th and 21st centuries. He has enjoyed past solo/chamber music performances at the McCormick Marimba Festival (Florida), TROMP International Competition (The Netherlands), Knob Music Festival (Kansas), Bravo! Vail (Colorado), Aspen Festival (Colorado), Weill Recital Hall (NY), and numerous schools across the country
Recent projects include concerts and studio recordings of seminal chamber works for percussion, the premiere of a vibraphone solo by Grant Fonda, and appearances on CD's of compositions by composers David Caffey, Baljinder Sehkon and Nathaniel Bartlett. He can be heard on Innova Recordings, Artist Alliance Records, Sound-Space Audio Lab and Ravello Records.
As a classically trained percussionist, Michael has served as a member of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Wichita Grand Opera, and as an extra percussionist with the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra. Additionally, he has performed with touring artists, including Natalie Merchant, Indigo Girls, Celtic Woman, Irish Tenors, and Jackie Evancho.
Michael holds a M.M. degree from Wichita State University and a B.M. degree from the University of South Florida, where he studied with Gerald Scholl and Robert McCormick.
